New Artist. New Art.

New Artist. New Art.

We are happy to welcome Michelle Hoogveld as one of our featured artists. "Michelle is best known for her distinctive use of mixed media, whose work explores the relational boundaries of mediums in a figurative yet abstract fashion. Her approach to painting is intuitive, yet intentional, utilizing mediums such as oil paint, spray, images and found objects to emphasize the realistic qualities of her subjects, but also to experiment with different methods of layering and abstraction. Drawing upon inspiration from a variety of sources, Michelle aims to tell a story, centring on personal interactions, habitual routines, the places we encounter and the connections we form with others." Come by and experience some of her amazing pieces we are now showing in the shop.

"If you only read the books that everyone else is reading, you can only think what everyone else is thinking" - Haruki Murakami.

Same can be said with the decor items you put in your home.  We firmly believe that everything in your home should be a reflection of who you are.  Our constantly changing masculine decor items can make a bold statement and add sophistication and style to most room settings.  These resin bookends offer a dose of "manly" without over doing it.  They are strong enough to hold all your favorite reads.

Kokedama!

Kokedama!

We are happy to welcome Caine and his cool Kokedama's to Stuff. His Secret Shop has taken up residence in our previously designated pop up space. What is a Kokedama? It is typically a single plant with its roots encased in a ball of moss-wrapped soil. Come in and check out Caine's constantly changing selection and add one of these great pieces of living Japanese art to you home.

Light one up.

Light one up.

Spring is coming, yet it might still be a little too chilly to open all the windows and air out our winter dens, which is where Toronto based Brennan Michael comes in, with his uniquely masculine scented candles, and diffusers.  Aromas that have hints of spices, leather, metal and wood, with subtle touches of floral notes, will give your sense of smell a break from the winter doldrums.

Masculine Style.

Masculine Style.

We believe that clean lines, simple details and sumptuous coverings are design elements that can make a room warm, rich, and sometimes even bold.  Our Berber chair in distressed black leather may be small in scale but it's definitely big on style.  It's unique linear quilting detail with metal frame, is sure to make it a classic that you will never want to get rid of.

Golden.

Golden.

Spring is around the corner, (we hope), and with that always comes the urge to update a few things in the home.  We happen to love metal finishes.  Everything from bronze, and copper to gunmetal and gold can be used to add a bit of drama to an otherwise subdued interior.  These starburst home accent pieces would add a small explosion of gold to a side table, mantel, or bookshelf.  It's a permanent fireworks burst in your home.

Keep your head about you.

Keep your head about you.

When you are adding accents to your home they should reflect some of your personality to avoid a sterile and unfeeling environment.  We are also a big believer in adding a bit of sense of humour with your decorative accessories. The wire Scully Sculpture is a fun decor piece that has a handmade yet industrial feel to it. It would also make a great home for your favorite hat.

Light up your life.

Light up your life.

Collections for Collectors.

Collections for Collectors.

We are very careful with the curation of our home decor product.  We look for quality pieces that are well made, and take on a modern yet classic form. What makes it even better, is if they are made using traditional manufacturing practices or are handmade. Klein Reed porcelain pottery covers all of the above.  With beautiful classic shapes made “from scratch” in their Brooklyn, NY studio,  their vessels are truly timeless works of art.  They have designed collections for companies such as Herman Miller,  Dansk, and one of our favorites, Room & Board.  It's a line we are happy to showcase in the shop.
